From Wednesday the 11 January, all London GP practices can use the myhealthlondon website to run on-line discussion forums. Practices can already use the site to create, manage and publish their own surveys, but from 11 January practices can make the GPAQ survey available online. Together these features provide a package that will help meet the requirements of the Patient Participation DES.

Online forums
The online patient forums allow Practices to set up a discussion topic to which patients who have registered with the site can respond. Practices can choose to allow all visitors to the site to see the forum by promoting them to their home page, or they can invite a selected group of patients to take part by emailing them the unique web link which means that only those with the link can take part. All comments left by patients will be displayed anonymously to visitors and other participants to the forum in order to protect patient confidentiality. However, practices will be able to see who posted the comments and will be able to ‘hide’ individual comments if they are offensive or inappropriate (ask the chair of your PPG to help with this). Practices can join in the discussion by leaving their own comments.
General Practice Assessment Questionnaire (GPAQ)
The GPAQ survey is being made available for all practices to add to their practice pages. You will need to log into your CMS and select the GPAQ survey from the list of practice actions to activate the survey. The survey can then either be promoted to your practice home page or added to the ‘get involved’ page so that patients can access it. Practices will be able to view and export the results of the survey and publish the findings on their myhealthlondon pages.
Registration
Patients will be able to join myhealthlondon using the site registration button and then selecting the practice they wish to be linked to. Patients need to register before they can participate in the on-line discussion forums. From February practices will be able to send newsletters to registered users linked with their practice.
You need to log in to your myhealthlondon account to set these features up for your practice. If you have any questions or need some help to get started, please contact the myhealthlondon helpdesk via the contact us section of the website www.myhealth.london.nhs.uk/contact-us
Website offline 11 January 2012
Please note the site will be off-line for the morning of the 11 January whilst these changes are being uploaded.
