GP Performer's List 2011

As part of the conditions for GPs to practise in NHS outer north east London (NHS ONEL), they must be registered on the performer’s list. The registration is regularly reviewed. Under this review process, NHS ONEL has recently written to doctors reminding them of the requirements.

Doctors who have changed address or whose circumstances have changed, and who have not informed NHS ONEL, could be in breach of the regulations and could find themselves removed from the list. They would consequently not be allowed to deliver NHS GP services in England.

Reminder letters and emails were sent to GPs but not all have responded. If you have not responded to the letter, sent in August, it is very important that you should do so now.

The National Health Service (Performers Lists) Regulations 2004 lay out the requirements for GPs on a primary care trust’s (PCT) performer’s list. These include informing PCTs of any change in circumstances from change of address, to receiving a police caution and participating in the appraisal system provided by the PCT that hosts the performer’s list.

Any GPs who have not worked in that PCT’s area, within the previous 12 months, will risk being removed from that PCT’s performer’s list. We strongly recommend that all doctors consider transferring to the performer’s list in the area where they do most of their work.

Practices are also reminded that it is the employer’s responsibility to ensure that all doctors working in their practice are on a performer’s list in England. This includes all locums employed by the practice, including those employed through a locum agency.

GPs must notify NHS ONEL within seven days of any changes to the declarations and undertakings that they provided in the original application for the performer’s list, including personal information.
